Emergency Care Provider

Emergency Care Provider (ECP) replaces the First Responder course. The ECP meets the prerequisite for Fire Fighter I/II, Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter, and the medical requirement along with Emergency Vehicle Operator Course for the State of Alabama ambulance driver license. This course is geared toward learning advanced first-aid techniques and CPR Certification. Emergency Care Provider goes beyond simple bleeding control, and bandaging minor wounds. It is an excellent course for fire fighters, law enforcement personnel, ambulance drivers, anyone working with children (coaches, teachers, day care workers) and the general public. The course is taught in a classroom environment with specific practical exercises required. The course is an introduction to the roles, responsibilities, and functions of an ECP, overview of anatomy, shock, splinting, head and spinal injuries, chest injuries, heart attack and stroke, burns, pediatric emergencies, and childbirth. Upon successful completion of this class students WILL NOT be eligible to take the National Registry exam for licensure.
