VFF: Block 4 - Haz Mat A&O
This course is based on NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications. The Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter Block courses prepare the student for the Volunteer Fire Fighter State Certification Examination. The course is highly structured to provide academic information through a series of lectures and demonstrations augmented with visual aids. Practical skills are developed with a specified degree of proficiency through selected manipulative evolutions. Specific subject topics covered in Volunteer Fire Fighter Block 4 include Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations. This course meets the requirements of the mandatory Awareness/Operational training in hazardous materials required by Title III - Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 and NFPA 472: Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents. This course is recommended for all Volunteer Fire Fighters.
