One of the core strategies of the Alabama Fire College is to provide excellent education and training. Achievement of accreditation by ProBoard and IFSAC demonstrates the Alabama Fire College’s commitment to upholding these high standards. Accreditation requires that accredited agencies assess both knowledge and skills to determine the student’s level of competence at the conclusion of each course. In keeping with ProBoard recommendation of minimum skills testing requirements, the AFC will test a total of seventeen (17) JPR skills for Certified Volunteer Firefighter. Five (5) mandatory skills tested during Blocks I and II. During Block III, four (4) mandatory skills will be tested. Random Skills testing will be administered at the end of Block III assessing three randomly drawn skills, one from each block. Mandatory skill sheets will be either scanned and submitted into the appropriate submission box located in the online class or presented to the AFC test proctor prior to the random JPR evaluation. This change will take effect for Certified Volunteer Firefighter courses beginning after June 1, 2016.
- Mandatory skills for Block I include: 3-1, 6-1, 6-2, 15-2, and 15-12.
- Mandatory skills for Block II include: 8-1, 9-1, 9-6, 12-1, and 12-2.
- Mandatory skills for Block III include: 9-7, 13-1, 17-5, and 18-2.
