Paramedic

Entrance requirements for the Paramedic level include successful completion of the EMT Basic National Registry exam, as well as completion of Math 100 or 116 or higher, and English 101 or higher, and a minimum GPA of 2.0. Paramedic students receive a variety of training and certifications in addition to their formal EMS course work, including; Intro to Technical Rescue ICS 100 NIMS 700 Vehicle Extrication Training Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Haz Mat Awareness Explosives / WMD Recognition International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) The Paramedic curriculum is based on the DOT National Standard Curriculum. Careful adherence to this standard has resulted in extremely high first time pass rates by the AFC students on National Registry exams (92% in 2008, 100% in 2009).
