Rescue Technician: Surface Water

A 44-hour course combining classroom as well as field instruction that will include, but will not be limited to: water hydrology, preplanning water sites, safety, self-rescue, boat operations, in-water/shore-based rescues, rope techniques, highline rescues, and command of water incidents. A good understanding of rope techniques and knots is highly recommended, but not a requirement.

Special Equipment - Water helmet or climbing helmet (no fire fighting helmets), Wetsuit or dry suit, Water boots or tennis shoes, Water gloves, Coast Guard approved Type V personal flotation device, 2 forms of light (flashlight & glow stick for night drill)

Physical Requirements - This is a very physically demanding course which requires student to be in good physical condition.
